Hey guys, I dropped a piece of cucumber. Anyone want it?

Day 1 (At camp)
September 18, 2009.
4:29 pm

I've been in the cabin for all of 10 minutes, and my clothes are already spew all over the floor.

Acutally, I was looking for my hairbrush, and I couldn't find it; so I decided it would be a good idea to throw everything out of my suitcase in order to be able to obtain nice, detangled hair. Why I didn't think of asking someone else for a hairbrush, I'll never know. I did find it though. It was hidden inside a shirt I threw out of my suitcase, that just so happened to smack my bunk mate (I got top bunk) in the face. So now I have semi detangled hair (I gave up half way), and one slightly pissed off bunk mate.
funnnn.

5:15 pm

I've never had diner this early before. Pass the salt, please.

7:06 pm

Remember those trust exercises you always see on TV where the person falls back, and you have to catch them? Yeah, we had to do those. And guess what? I dropped my partner (by accident of course.) Whoops. Trust lost. He trusted me to take a step back, so he would fall farther down; too bad my short, stubby arms and legs couldn't catch him fast enough. He did get a soft pillow to land on though. Me.

I'll never understand why he agreed to be friends with me though after that.

10:23 pm

We had a night hike! That's right. We wandered about 200 meters into the forest in the middle of the night in 'can't even see the hand in your face' darkness, sat down in the mud as it seeped through 3 layers of pants, and listened quietly trying to identify the hoot of some sort of owl. After a couple of minutes of uncomfortable wetness, I heard one miserable hoot before someone screamed something intelligible into the walky talky and the hoot was silenced. We then walked out of the forest, my good mood destroyed because of one disoriented person using a walky talky.

That was before I looked up and saw a map of billions of stars looking down upon me; which instantly lifted my spirits, despite the damp feeling of my pants rubbing against me, the freezing cold wind, and annoyingly loud people with no previous knowledge on how to use a walky talky.

One good thing about being in the country side, is that you get to see all the stars, unlike Toronto where every single star is hidden behind a blanket of light pollution grossness. But seriously, you would not believe how beautiful the skies were. If I were a really good writer, I'd think I'd be able to tell you, but I'm not. So you're just going to have to trust me on this.

My highlight of this day? The night sky was so unpolluted I got to see Jupiter. That's right. I got to see a planet. And although I didn't get to see the rings around it, it was still pretty damn cool anyway.

11:02 pm

Midnight snacks? I'm not sure what it was, but we got to eat chocolate chip cookies. And not the kind that you buy in stores. It was home made and made with pastry flour, instead of all purpose or cake flour (you can tell because it's finer).

Is it sad that I know this or what?

Anyway, I think I'll go to sleep now before I wake up at 6:30 because of an annoying alarm that I cannot turn off. I'd rather get as much sleep as possible, but knowing whose sleeping in this cabin with me, I think I'll be doing a lot more talking than sleeping tonight.
